At the 2012 Annual Meeting and the Second Commendation and Exchange Conference on Excellent Engineering Projects of the China Chemical Engineering Construction Enterprises Association, held in Hangzhou on April 10-11, relevant officials from the association stated that the situation in 2012 was not optimistic, and enterprises should have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding and be prepared to cope with various difficulties.

According to Yu Jinbo, chairman of the China Chemical Engineering Construction Enterprises Association, the main business income of the association's member construction enterprises with Class A general contracting qualifications and above was approximately 58 billion yuan in 2011, an increase of over 44% year-on-year; member engineering companies achieved new contract values of 45.68 billion yuan, an increase of 167.2% year-on-year. Major construction enterprises achieved a total profit of approximately 1.1 billion yuan, an increase of nearly 30% year-on-year. Major member enterprises completed overseas contracts totaling over 7 billion yuan, achieving significant progress in overseas operations.

Yu Jinbo also stated that the international and domestic situations this year are even more complex. First, the international engineering contracting market faces protectionist restrictions such as market access, technological barriers, and restrictions on labor import, leading to market shrinkage, insufficient demand, increased market, safety, and political risks, which have a very unfavorable impact on construction enterprises going overseas. Second, local fiscal risks and the cooling of the land market transactions constrain the local investment and financing capacity. The rise in enterprise input costs has become the norm, posing greater challenges to enterprises in undertaking tasks, recovering funds, reducing costs, and controlling project risks.

Yu Jinbo emphasized that construction enterprises should continuously increase investment in technological innovation, strengthen project management system construction, and improve risk control.

The meeting awarded the title of Advanced Unit for Creating Excellent Engineering Projects in the Chemical Industry to 19 units, including the China Chemical Engineering Third Construction Co., Ltd., and awarded the title of Outstanding Contributor to Creating Excellent Engineering Projects to 27 individuals, including Zhou Qinghai.
